So...yesterday was April Fool's and as usual, the Swedish papers (and I'm sure the papers in other parts of the world as well) went along with it and printed joke news (some more obvious than others). It's become a bit of a sport for the readers to try and find the April Fool article, a game of "Spot the fake". It's interesting to me, though, that April fool's Day is the only day people actually question what's in the news. Worth thinking about.

On another note, no: I understand that Sweden voted "yes" to gay marriage yesterday (and I can't believe I hadn't heard about it). All I can say is at last. It's such a self evident and obvious thing that I'm surprised it's even up for discussion still. It baffles me that people (Christians aside) have the energy to actually be so BOTHERED about how people they don't know choose to live their lives. And if it's people they DO know...they should be fucking ashamed of themselves for their backward thinking. And that retarded argument homophobes use, as well: "uhhhh, it's unnatural". Sigh. Love is an emotion, all emotions are chemical reactions in the brain, hence the same for everyone. I really don't know how to simplify it any more than that. If you still don't get it...there's no hope for you. Really. People seem so focused on the sex bit, as well. Who CARES what people do in the privacy of their own bedroom? (or kitchen, or hallway, or bathroom). Just for the record: no, gay people aren't overly sexual and out to get you, no, not all gay men have anal sex (typically this seems to be a fear among straight men in particular...dare I say you are overrating your own genitals slightly?) and no, they're not all reversed gender roles. Not all lesbians are butch and not all gay men are feminine. Basta!
